Preparation for weaving from rattan

From the natural rattan we cut the warp 44 pieces length - 30 cm. Then dip the rattan preferably in lukewarm water for about 1 minute.

1st step

A quarter of the length of the warp bars is inserted into the drilled plate. Just a few, better to add them gradually.

2nd step

We put the rod first for one warp and then in front of the other warp rod.

3rd step

All warps gradually entangled.

4th step

We slip the last rod under the first warp.

5th step

We start the first row with four long rattan rods.

6th step

We're weaving over two warps for two. So we weave over and over to the desired height of about 8 cm – 16 rows.

7th step

In the last row, we cut the weaving rods.

8th step

We start closing on the long side. We'll turn the first warp rod into two warp bars.

9th step

We braid other staffs with the same technique.

10th step

Use the awl to lift the second staff.

11th step

And we'll thread the last rod under the first.

12th step

Now all you have to do is trim the rattan.
